Pretty Sled Dogs Collars

Friday, February 24, 2012

Check out these collars. All 24 are ready to pack up and ship to Alaska to be worn in the Iditarod. Who will be wearing them......the pretty sled dogs of Karen Ramstead's North Wapiti Kennels. Alpine Outfitters is a proud sponsor of Karen Ramstead and her pretty, pure Siberian sled dogs. We are happy to provide her main string team with personalized collars for the amazing race they are about to embark on. We had the pleasure of spending a few days at Karen's kennel this past September. It was one of the most amazing and memorable trips we have ever been on. We had so much fun running our dogs with hers for miles on her amazing trails. It was truly a beautiful site to watch her teams perform. We'll be keeping a close eye on Karen and her pretty sled dogs and would also like to wish everyone else in the race, "GOOD LUCK" and "HAPPY TRAILS"!

New Year, New Gear!

The new year is here - a fresh start, new resolves and perhaps, new gear to help you achieve your new goals!

Our dogs may be man's best friend but a close second when you're out sledding is the Mega Brake by Arctis Cart.  This aluminum bar brake is lightweight yet strong, and comes with replaceable tips as well as brackets and other necessary hardware for easy installation on your sled.

And speaking of lightweight and durable, the Arctis Cart Snow Hook Holder makes for a versatile, rust-proof, and long-lasting accessory to your sled.  It can be attached to the side or the rear without necessarily having to drill holes on your sled's stanchions.  Currently on sale at 15% off the regular price!

The dogs are flying down the trail and you need quick access to your mittens or want to grab a quick bite to eat --- having a Handle Bar Bag gives you an easy-to-get-to and roomy compartment for a variety of items to carry on the trail.

The cold weather certainly has the dogs wanting to run and your furry friend has so much fun pulling you on a scooter around the neighborhood.  But the days are shorter and you want to be a bit safer when you run your dog in the early morning or evening hours.  Be safe, be more visible, and still have a blast with our new Scooter Line with Reflective Rope.

Here's to wishing you all the best for 2012 --- happy tails and happy trails!

'Tis the season...

Dashing through the snow
In a six-dog basket sled
O'er the fields we go
Barking all the way
Bells on collars ring
Oh such a wonderful sight
What fun it is to run the dogs
And go sledding day or night!

Yes, it's definitely that wonderful time of the year! Not all of you may have snow but whether you are a one-dog urban musher or are a big kennel training for the Iditarod, there is no doubt our furry friends just LOVE to run when the temperatures are low.   Enjoy the winter wonderland and go dog sledding or skijoring.  No snow – no problem!  Carting, scootering, or bikejoring give your dogs a wonderful opportunity to express their joy of being outdoors and running in harness.

And of course, Christmas is the season for giving.  If you are looking for some last minute gift ideas, you may want to check out our Alpine Outfitters cap and Alpine Outfitters t-shirt, which are both on sale at 20% off.  Got a friend who loves to scooter/bikejor at night or during the early morning hours?  What better present than a double scooter line with reflective rope!  And while this is our busiest time of the year and custom harnesses do take some time to get made, we do now haveready-made adjustable urban trail harnesses available in standard sizes that would make for a timely stocking stuffer.

It’s also that time of year to pause and reflect and be thankful for our blessings.  We, at Alpine Outfitters, are thankful for our dogs, who give us their unconditional companionship and remind us every day what fun it is to live in the moment.  We are thankful for our friends and family, who help us go “ON BY” when the trail gets rough and tough.  And last, but not least, we are thankful for our customers, for giving us their continued support and for allowing us to share our passion for this wonderful sport.

On behalf of Alpine Outfitters, we wish you the very best during this Christmas season!  Happy Howlidays to all, and to all, a good run!
